Insurance

When undertaking a ski instructor course, it's essential to have the right insurance coverage to protect yourself against potential risks and liabilities. Here are the key types of insurance you should consider:

 1. Travel Insurance

   - Medical Coverage: Ensure it covers emergency medical expenses, including evacuation from remote areas if necessary.

   - Trip Cancellation/Interruption: Covers costs if your course is cancelled or if you need to cancel your trip for a covered reason.

   - Lost or Stolen Belongings: Protects your personal belongings, including your ski equipment.

 2. Health Insurance

   - Make sure your health insurance covers injuries related to skiing and other winter sports. Verify that it includes coverage for the country where you'll be training (France)

 3. Accident Insurance

   - Provides coverage for injuries sustained during skiing, including costs related to hospitalization, treatment, and rehabilitation.

 4. Liability Insurance

   - Covers you if you are held responsible for injuring someone else or damaging someone’s property while skiing.

 5. Professional Liability Insurance

   - Once you start instructing, this covers legal costs and damages if a student claims you were negligent in your instruction. You will benefit from Professional liability insurance as part of your BASI membership.

 6. Equipment Insurance

   - Protects your ski equipment against loss, theft, or damage.

 7. Personal Accident Insurance

   - Offers compensation for serious injuries or accidents that could lead to permanent disability or death.

 Considerations:

- Geographical Coverage: Ensure the insurance policy covers the country or region where you will be training (France and Switzerland).

- Activity Coverage: Confirm that the policy covers all the activities you will be undertaking, including off-piste skiing if applicable.

 Providers:

- Specialised Insurance Companies: Some insurers specialise in coverage for sports professionals and extreme sports, such as World Nomads, Allianz, and AXA.

-BASI offer professional liability insurance as part of your membership.
